Unlock Tight Hips

Sitting for long periods can leave your hips feeling tight and restricted. Poor posture often makes matters worse, weakening your core and creating imbalances that lead to discomfort in your hips, lower back, and beyond. Over time, these effects can build up, but with the right movements, you can reverse the strain and find relief.
Intentional movement, like yoga, is key to restoring flexibility and strength. Our Gentle Standing Sequence introduces mindful alignment and stretches, easing tightness and helping to restore natural hip mobility. For those with particularly tight hips, poses like Equestrian Pose provide a gentle starting point, encouraging gradual release and opening.
Lizard Lunge
As flexibility improves, deeper postures like the Lizard Lunge help unlock a greater range of motion while building strength. Our Hip Mobility Sequence further supports your progress by engaging your glutes and core, stabilising the pelvis and promoting long-term hip health.
Tight hips affect us all. The demands of work often make weak posture and restricted movement common, but with care and consistency, these challenges can be overcome.
Why Lizard Lunge Prepares You for Warrior Poses
Opens and strengthens the hips :
Lizard Lunge effectively prepares the hips for Warrior poses (Virabhadrasana series) by targeting the hip flexors, adductors, and surrounding musculature. Lowering the elbows to the floor deepens the stretch, improving flexibility and stability in wide stances.
Supports spinal strength :
Adding a twist with one hand raised engages the erector spinae and obliques, promoting spinal mobility and core strength. This variation also lengthens the spine and stimulates the thoracic region.
Adds a balance challenge :
Lizard Lunge introduces moderate balance demands by requiring stabilisation of the supporting leg and core engagement. However, it remains less intense than Warrior poses, making it an ideal preparatory step.
Tight hips affect us all. Work demands often lead to poor posture and restricted movement, but with care and consistency, these challenges can be overcome. Yoga provides a pathway to not only relieve discomfort but also build strength and resilience for the long term.
