The Safe Space
While no environment can offer absolute guarantees, safety is built quietly through ongoing practice:
Predictability: clear structure, cues, and boundaries that allow the nervous system to settle.
Consistency: a reliable teacher, class after class.
Responsiveness: listening to the room and adapting to student needs in real time.
Real safety isn’t a badge we claim. It’s the students’ experience of the class, earned through care and presence.
A “safe space” isn’t something a teacher declares, and it’s more than the physical build of the room. It’s something students experience.
