Breath and Intention
When you fold forward on a long exhale, you are is doing two things at once. Breath is shifting physiological state. Intention is organising the movement - and preparing for what comes next.
Downstream and upstream, at the same time. This is what healthy regulation allows.
Chronic stress can lock the system so readiness excludes. Neither is the goal.
Recovery isn't about making the body permanently calm. It's about keeping the capacity to rest without losing readiness - and to become ready without losing the capacity to rest.
That's why a good practice doesn't leave you depleted.
It leaves you:
Rested.
Ready.
Aware.
Not switched off. Available.
PS. In chronic stress, the nervous system locks into a pattern where readiness excludes rest - sympathetic dominance. In burnout, it locks into the reverse: rest excludes readiness - a nervous system that's stopped mobilising, not one that's calm.
Breath and intention don't work one after the other. They work concurrently - because rest and readiness are not opposites.
